Saint Louis of France School 2014 SCIENCE FAIR: January 28th
Let’s have some FUN WITH PHYSICS!
MANDATORY for grades 4-8, all others are encouraged to participate!
A Science Fair provides opportunities for students to explore while they learn, apply their science skills, become effective communicators, and just have fun!
· This year, all projects must be physics related, with highest points awarded to interactive projects that encourage others to learn while they explore!
· Each project should include the actual physics project and be accompanied with a free-standing project display board neatly and creatively presenting age appropriate physics background information relative to the project, student/team names and grades, and any other project-enhancing materials (pictures, graphs, illustrations, information on relative famous physicist, …) All work should be word processed in large, easily readable font.
· Students may work independently or with ONE partner on their projects. Partners may be from another grade level; however, scoring will be based on what is expected from the older of the two team members.
· All projects are due to the Mulcahy Parish Center by 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28th. The Science Fair will be open to all after the General PTO Meeting that night (7:30 – 9:00 p.m.)
· Students are encouraged to demonstrate their projects during the Science Fair!
· Project display boards can be purchased from Michael’s Craft Store, or may be pre-ordered from Mrs. Garcia at a cost of $5 each. Rubber cement is the suggested medium to apply materials to your project boards.
Physics is a huge subject. There are many branches of physics including electricity, astronomy, motion, waves, sound, and light. Engineers use physics to help design airplanes, cars, buildings, roller coasters and electronics such as computers and cell phones.
Everything on Earth, everything in our solar system, everything in our galaxy, and everything in the universe moves and interacts, and forces play a big part in that. Physics studies those FORCES and interactions.

PARENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I understand that my child, ______________________________________________________________________, grade _______
has a MANDATORY SCIENCE FAIR PHYSICS PROJECT that will be factored into the second trimester report card grade.
My child and I have received the outlined information for project requirements as well as a list of helpful websites. We are aware of the project deadline of Tuesday, January 28th, 2014 and will comply with the requirements of this assignment.
